First in a series of three: I realized that I have a set of prismacolor markers that are just drying out because I've always been a little afraid of them. I also have a tendency to use muted, toned-down tones, and I wanted to force myself to use bright, pure colors.

I pull my clothing and costume design from a bajillion sources that are just sort of a jumble in my head; so I tried to keep note of inspirations behind each outfit, in case anyone finds that sort of thing interesting.

All of them are so lovely! They are a bit art deco, yes? I absolutely love them. They also remind me of the style of art used on the cover of the Jewels of Westria book. by Patricia-something... i can't find em no more, nad that one was given to me by a friend... it's awesome!

I was reminded of Frida Kahlo when I first looked at this piece. It's mostly due to the eyes, I think for me, her work always features really striking eyes, and that's what your work reminds me of. I just love the contours of her face. Every details makes me want to keep coming back and just taking it in.

I really enjoy the lists of references for this series, because they're captured so well in each piece (especially the "texture and color of poppy petals" one)! :) Nice job!

The color and texture of poppy petals are almost one in the same. for me the color is so rich and vibrant that looking at them is a tactile experience, they're like visual velvet.
