SessKag: The Oni Miko by janey-jane SessKag: The Oni Miko by janey-jane
I started this picture *checks date-stamp* - yikes - over two years ago and I was typically overly ambitious, stalled out on it, and it's just been sitting in my WIP folder...moldering.

It was inspired by the thought that surely some of the adventures of Kagome, Inuyasha, etal. would have survived in folklore, and that made me wonder which elements might have made it into the stories (for example, it might have been mentioned that the miko dressed oddly, but the specifics of what that meant would have been lost). Surely the initial battle in the belly of the inutaisho would have made for great folktale material.

Heavily influenced by Yoshitoshi's woodblocks. Also a disclaimer/apology - I speak about three words of Japanese, the translation is courtesy googletranslate and is, I'm sure, not very good. It's really just there for the aesthetic, but apologies all the same for any unintentional linguistic butchery.

Love how it mimics ancient Japanese art. I can just picture modern day Kagome coming across this in a museum or temple and freaking out.^^

I feel that I sound as repetative as an old record, but your art is so insanely inspiring. Whenever I see your fanart I really want to read a story that tells its tale. And if I can find none I'm always tempted to write them. Than can be a bit of a curse; you have no idea how often I dropped what I was writing when one of your pictures came up as my desktop background and how often I started even two write things for them, only to drop them again because they could never live up to the amazing that is your art. Then again, when I do write in a fandom you created fanart for there is nothing like your art to fuel my muses. On that note I was quite happy when I saw this picture, because I always thought that it kind of ties in with the general idea of the story "Tales from the House of Moon" (which you probably know)(and which is one of my favourite Inu Yasha Fanfictions).
And I would really like to say something usefull about your art here, but I can't. I can onlysay that it looks utterly convincing. I love old japanese art in their style, and I can't believe that you mamaged to create this so well that I wouldn't even blink twice if I were to sea it in some museum. The posture, the anatomy, the colours, the arrangement... everything's just mindblowing. Thank you once again for sharing your genius. <3

I do indeed know 'tales from the house of the moon' - it's lovely ♥

and it makes me insanely happy to hear that my art inspires you (even if you don't finish things - finishing things is hard!)

It is. It might be the bane of my existence, thinking about that now. I only finish about 10% of the pictures or stories I start. But if I ever get bitten my an ink-spider and develop sudden-superwritingpowers and finish something that was inspired by you (as in: any inu yasha piece) I'll let you know :)

(La la la la You reading the same things as a commoner like I do. La la la la )

haha, hey! awesome fic is awesome fic! I will literally read ANYTHING if it's well written. That's actually how i've gotten into tons of new ships and fandoms. Someone will link to an awesome fic with a gorgeous piece of fanart or something and even if it's from a show or move i hardly know about, if the story is well-written: BAM! I'm head over heels in love.

Oh, I know that feeling. I'm a book-whore. I don't think that there's any genre I haven't read yet, though I kind of love fantasy-novels best. But it often happens that a friend brings me a book to try and get me fixed on things so we can chat about it for hours on end. I'm easy to enthral for things, I've been told. Problem is that I often get enthralled a bit too much and for too many things at a time, so that it often overwhelmes me and eats up my time. A friend of mine is currently trying to get me to watch 'Avatar' so I can watch the sequel with her. I'm not sure if I want to get enthralled, as it seems a big thing, but your fanart looks so stunning that I might just give it a go. (Then again, you could make a fly on the wall look mindblowing...) What are you into, most recently?
janey-jane Featured By Owner Dec 28, 2013
hmm... most recently I've been really into Star Trek, but I'm actually trying to get back into my historic costuming because all of my costumes are getting really ragged and worn out and I'd like to have new ones. I also need to make a dress for my brother's wedding next summer. I'm going to give myself an assignment to get my sewing area organized in January so that I can hopefully tackle all that. I've also been feeling like I want to do a revisit to some of my old fandoms, it's been a while since I've drawn anything for Labyrinth, or some of my anime fandoms. I might do that. But yeah, trying to resist getting pulled into new fandoms. It's difficult. That's why I have so many!
