this is a self-portrait of a sort. I own about 35-40 vintage and antique kimono because the fabric.... I can't say enough about it, the japanese create the most exquisite silks for kimono, there's nothing else like it. I have sheer summer kimono and stiff, heavy, padded winter kimono and they're all beautiful.

~Anyway~

I wanted to do a painting which incorporated my kimono into a self-portrait. The photo makes it look a lot rougher and blotchier (more blotchy?) than it is in life. oh well.
