Things that make me a happy fangirl

(tl;dr entry warning)

1. Naruto – OMG Kishimoto is such a freaking tease. One panel of Sand Sibs and they probably won’t show up again for like 50 chapters (I'm hoping just saying this will prove me wrong). The only reason I even started reading Naruto was because *Jb-612 made me watch the Gaara/Lee fight. It sold me on the series. And on Lee, and on Gaara. All you Sasuke fans can have him. Gross.

Also I was getting really sick of the never-ending battle *cough*Bleach*cough*, so it's nice to have some plot advancement.

Also – I’ve recently realized that there is an appalling lack of Naruto fanart in my gallery. Something that may need to be remedied.

2. Avatar – Excuse me “The Last Airbender”. Like 99.9% of the fandom I was wary when the movie was announced and horrified when the initial casting was announced. That said, the teaser trailer has made me tentatively, hesitantly, cautiously hopeful that it isn’t going to suck.

Here’s hoping. [link] (just in case you’ve not seen it)

3. Harry Potter. Do I really need to expound on this? HARRY. FREAKING. POTTER.

Also, I've been saying that I need to feature art, I might as well actually do it:

This journal's features are brought to you by Naruto!

This piece is just so sweet. I’m ambivalent about Naru/Hina – but the colors and composition make this so pretty. I love the way she drew Hinata's eyes, and her expression of mingled disbelief and hope (slash panic). Nawwww.

Go check out all of her Naruto series. It is severely under-loved. The characters still look like themselves but her style is distinct and uniquely her own. Also, props for making Gai actually look hot (and not just be hot by default of being so awesome). She has a lovely Kakashi as well. Nom nom nom.

Just...guuhhh. I might have included this one just for me. I love you Gaara. Don't die.

Pre-caffeine, surly morning me was like "WTF with all the messages?!" when I logged into DA today. I'm a little slow when I first wake up.

But seriously, THANK YOU!!!!
I am so unbelievably flattered and excited to have gotten a DD, I don't think I'm allowed to complain about anything for the rest of the year. Best Cinco de Mayo EVER.
A big shout out and extra thank you to :iconartisticaunjuli: for choosing my piece to feature.

I was already behind on all of my messages, notes, etc. Haha, now I'm REALLY going to be behind.

Dr. Horrible is stuck in my head...

BTW...I am completely digging the new page layout.

Okay, considering how much I love Joss Whedon, how much I (secretly) really like musicals, how I'm totally tickled by online fandom, and how much i absolutely adore the ridiculous I really should have seen Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog before now.

Better late than never I suppose, right?

I'm just wondering why I hadn't heard of it before now...jeezy creezy... what else am I missing out on because I'm now a slave to corporate america?

Does anyone out there have tips and tricks for getting out of art ruts?

I recently became a card-carrying member of corporate america (seriously, I have business cards --> who is this person i've become?) and i've been feeling utterly uninspired to even finish the mass of stuff that's already half-done to mostly complete.

So I put this out to everyone out there - do you walk away? make yourself keep drawing/sewing/writing? Look at other people's stuff? what jumpstarts your creative process?

On a side note lets try something new...I've been subscribed for over a year now and I've never taken advantage of the ability to feature stuff in my journal. As my test run I'm posting something utterly self-indulgent.

Some stuff my friends drew for me because we now live like 230 miles away from each other. Cartoon me (in the first two) is so freakin' adorable, I wish I were that cute IRL.

The Political Circus

Journal Entry: Fri Sep 12, 2008, 9:26 AM
  • Mood: Bitter
  • Listening to: Filk music
  • Reading: terrible fanfiction
  • Watching: Hana Yori Dango (the j-drama)
  • Drinking: pomegranate limeade
I'm really too young to be so jaded about the American political process, but I don't think there's anything I can do about that now.

This made me feel ... not better so much as it was just nice to see someone getting passionate about both civic duty and the ridiculous nature of the political process and the media that covers it.
